LOVE THE SKIN YOU'RE IN..PART 2

OK, so now you're checking the labels of your toiletries to make sure it's only good stuff you're putting on your skin. You're checking your food labels too, ensuring no nasties will be compromising your skin condition from the inside, & to top that off you're drinking plenty of water to keep your skin radiant, so what else can you do to love the skin you're in?

Here are top tips to stay naturally beautiful this summer...

•  eat 5-7 portions of fresh fruit & veg a day if you're a woman; 7-9 if you're a fella. Eating this amount, & seasonally, ensures you get a cross section of nutrients vital to maintaining the integrity of your skin.

•  Cellulite occurs due to excess saturated fat & fat based toxins making fat cells static. So we need to improve circulation to help get break down those fat cells & get them moving:

•  An apple a day helps keep cellulite away, as do carrots, & organic is best as they do not harbour residue toxins like pesticides, the way non-organic produce can.

•  Eat essential fatty acids that are found in sunflower & pumpkin seeds.

•  Drink lots of water to ensure your blood doesn't become thick 'n' sticky due to dehydration

•  Avoid saturated fats like dairy, & fatty meats, opting for olive, rapeseed or hemp oils & lean cuts or some lovely fish like mackerel, trout, salmon, sardines.

•  Massage the following into your bum, tum n thighs twice daily:

7 drops of fennel essential oil

5 drops cypress essential oil

5 drops juniper berry essential oil

3 drops lemon essential oil

in 50ml olive oil (organic cold pressed is best)

or if this seems like too much bother, pop in to Half Moon & order yourself a pot of TLC's "Dimples".

•  exercise aerobically for 20mins 3 x week

•  The Ecologist (Dec 2006) reports that researchers have found that chemicals found in pesticides & plastics can disrupt the way our body breaks down fats, contributing to obesity. So eating organic where you can & avoiding plastics may be a key contributory factor in getting your body back into balance.

•  Get a massage...OR why not get a back or body scrub. At the Little Massage Clinic we can give you a back or full body scrub using gourmet gorgeous organic ingredients to get your circulation moving & exfoliate your skin. This is followed by a detoxifying herbal rinse, & finally sending you into bliss with detoxifying & toning essential oils expertly massaged by one of our professional body work specialists. If you fancy making your own gourmet body scrub, rub the following recipe all over before showering off & then towelling dry before applying the Dimples recipe above:

½ pot organic natural yogurt

2 tablespoons organic sugar (what sugar!!)

1 tablespoon organic or local honey

1 tablespoon of organic oatmeal or wheatgerm

•  Use a Lymphatic body brush whilst in the bath/shower each day top apply your suds..available at Half Moon

•  apply neat lavender essential oil to any spots or blemishes to help them heal more effectively.

•  For dry skin, as well as all the above, ensure you are getting enough vitamin E found in avocados, nuts, seeds, soya & lettuce. Sugar, tea, coffee, alcohol, smoking all dry your skin out.

•  For puffy skin & water retention, hydrate well, avoid wheat, eat plenty of nuts, seeds & consider supplementing with vitamin B6, Flax or Evening Primrose or Borage oil, zinc & magnesium

•  For oily skin pop a few drops of lavender & juniper berry or cypress oil in with your usual face cream. A total of 1 drop to 5mls of cream is a good guide, & try a facial.

•  For rough skin consider the above points & that you may be deficient in vitamin A which is found in liver, eggs, margarine, butter, carrots, spinach cabbage & other yellow/orange fruits.

•  Use a good sunblock; we sell Green People's organic sun care range at Half Moon. It's best to use a minimum of SPF15.

•  Avoid using soap on your face, using only a clean flannel.

•  Use an organic flower water e.g. rose, orange blossom or lavender to remove the last traces of muck from your beautiful face before applying a 100% natural beauty cream to suit your skin type.

•  Use 100%natural cosmetics if you need to enhance your already beautiful visage. Check out: http://www.spiritofnature.co.uk/acatalog/ for some wicked supplies.

•  For hardworking manual hands try a hydrating skin cream like our Helping Hands.

As usual you can pop into Half Moon/The Little Massage clinic & arrange to have some informal advice or check out our range of kind & gorgeous goodies, or go to http://www.tlcinabottle.co.uk
